Kogni — Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
Kogni (App Store name: “Kogni - Dopamine App Lock”) is published by [legal name of the developer account holder].
Kogni helps you scroll less: before a social app you chose opens, it shows a short learning task. This policy explains what Kogni stores, where, and why. In short: we keep your learning progress so it is never lost and follows you to a new iPhone. We never see which apps you open or what you do in them, we show no ads, and we sell nothing.
What stays on your iPhone only
- The apps and websites you choose to guard. Apple's Screen Time framework gives Kogni only opaque tokens for them; Kogni cannot read their names, and these tokens never leave your iPhone.
- Your visit log (when a guarded app was opened, how long a visit lasted). It is kept on your iPhone for 30 days to show today's numbers and is never uploaded.
- Shortcuts automations and whether protection is on.
What we store on our server
When you sign in with Apple, Kogni stores on its sync server:
- An anonymous user identifier from Apple. We do not ask for your name or email; Apple gives us an identifier that is unique to Kogni and means nothing outside it.
- Your learning progress: for each topic, which tasks you have seen and answered, your level, and the number of answers; per day, the number of right answers, minutes spent learning and total minutes of visits to guarded apps (one number per day, without app names).
- Your Kogni settings: chosen topics and their shares, goals and the chosen mode.
- A random identifier for each of your devices, so answers from two devices add up instead of overwriting each other.
- A token from Apple for your Sign in with Apple, used only to revoke it when you delete your account.
We use this data only to keep your progress safe, to show your streak and statistics, and to restore everything on a new device. The server runs on Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.), which processes the data on our behalf.
Purchases
Subscriptions and purchases are handled entirely by Apple. Kogni receives only whether you have an active purchase; we never see your payment details.
Learning content
Lessons and facts are downloaded from our content server as files that are the same for everyone; downloading them does not identify you.
What we don't do
No advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, no selling or sharing of your data with anyone for their own purposes, no analytics SDKs.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your progress is kept while you use Kogni. You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Delete account. All data stored on our server for your account is deleted at once, and Sign in with Apple for Kogni is revoked; the iPhone then starts over. Only the time of deletion is kept, without any data, so that another device still signed in cannot restore the deleted account. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription — subscriptions belong to your Apple Account and are managed in Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription (or in your Apple Account settings). Deleting the app removes everything stored on your iPhone.
Children
Kogni is not directed at children under 13. Parental features, if added, will be described here first.
